Ontario compensation disclosure in 2026

From January 1, 2026, Ontario O. Reg. 476/24 applies to employers with 25 or more employees. For covered publicly advertised jobs, expected compensation must be disclosed; a posted range may span at most CAD $50,000 annually. The compensation disclosure exemption applies when expected compensation or the upper end exceeds CAD $200,000 annually. The scanner cannot verify employer size or other exemptions.

US state and other location signals

The preview maps Ontario, British Columbia, New York, California, Washington, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, Virginia, Maine and the European Union. A US or Canada remote role without a detected range is flagged for review. State thresholds, effective dates, disclosure timing and exemptions differ. Connecticut, Virginia, Maine and EU matches are review prompts; they do not establish that a public posting range is legally required. EU national implementation also varies.

A range wider than 50% of its minimum is a preview warning, not a universal legal limit. Ontario's CAD $50,000 test requires explicit CAD currency and annualized amounts. Public ATS compensation evidence

Greenhouse can expose pay_input_ranges and description salary ranges; Lever exposes salaryRange; Ashby exposes compensation components. The scanner evaluates up to 25 public jobs, redacts emails and phone numbers from titles and locations, and returns a snapshot. Only official Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby APIs are requested, with an eight second deadline and 512 KB per response. For larger feeds, only complete jobs within the capped response prefix are evaluated. Use the full Actor for broader coverage. Workable inputs receive an unsupported preview message.

Plain company slugs probe all three APIs. Use an ATS prefix to avoid ambiguous names. Missing evidence can mean a different disclosure channel, unsupported format or unavailable field.
